Isiserettes and the Isetta!

Hi!  This was a neighborhood event across the nation...right here in Beaverdale.  These folks are the Isiserettes, a drill and drum chore based right here in Des Moines.  I usually see them at the annual Fall Fesitival (again, just down the street).  They loved the Isetta :)  This is across the street from Snookies, where I still get free ice cream for working on the owners VW fleet.  Notice many of them still have their cones from Snookies as well.  The Isetta will be in the Fall Festival parade.

The Isiserettes have performed around the world.  They also have performed for both President Obama's inauguration ceremonies.   They have about an hour long routine that includes the drum chore and both older and younger drill teams.

Its about done!

Hi,

Its close enough to consider 'done'.  I have to put the top on it but that is ready to go...  Emily helped me install the glass and I need a nice hot sunny day to install the glass insert trim...but its looking good!  I have to finish the top and the inside door panel...that's about it!

Isetta is Reunited with its Chassis!

Tuesday May 13 was a good day for the little car.  I have the chassis far enough along to reunite the body with it!

We had a bit of a party...may attended and helped.

Body arrives from John and Tracy's where it has waited for over a year

Chassis looks good!

Riggs is checking out my work.

I had good help!

Riggs is thrilled with the outcome!

The isetta has been delivered to Tracy and John's (pictured) garage...where it will sit till I get the chassis assembled.  I'm hopeful to have it running this summer...

I have the chrome back too...it looks great.  I should have all the parts now to make a 'like new' 1957 BMW Isetta 300 car.

Next...time to buy it tires!

The Isetta is Painted!

I'm VERY pleased with how it has come out!  These are BMW colors...paint codes in a future blog...Jerry (pictured) did all the prep work...Marv (pictured below in another entry) did the actual painting.

I kinda wanted it to be a bit darker blue (see below...) but the car simply looks new!!!  Jerry did a nice job of dedenting it.

Isetta Paint Job Prep...

The paint job on the Isetta is moving along.  I will do all of the other work...these folks do such a good job with the paint job...I don't know how, I don't have the skill, and even if I did, it wouldn't be near the quality of what Marv can do.

Marv is the painter...he painted both of my VW's and does a heck of a good job.

Jerry Meyers has done most of the prep work so far.  They have it up in the air some here, I guess it about fell over on them!  ...all I told them was 2 things:
1)  I don't want to hear about it
2)  DON'T break the windows!

You can see the door to the right.  Jerry has taken the car on apart.

I'm still very impressed with the find.  I moved the parts around in my garage to accomodate a bathroom project I'm also in the middle of...  This is a non-rusty car...a rare find indeed.
